After years of stellar performance, working crazy hours and unimaginable stress, my health crashed. My body ached and I felt like I had been run over by an 18-wheeler. I found myself in the doctors’ office taking every test under the sun. I was scared! I thought, “This can’t be happening to me.” What is it? They tested for Lupus, MS and every other autoimmune disease possible. My Rhumatologist looked me in the eye and said, “Kim, I’m not sure what is stressing you out but whatever it is get rid of it! It’s costing you your health.” The next day I found myself at a company meeting that changed my life. People were whining by the water cooler and break room about some new “cost saving” announcements made by management. The new direction of the company included working longer hours, increased territories and a CUT IN THE COMPENSATION PLAN! I felt like I was having an out of body experience listening to the conversations of my colleagues. People were outraged and scared. Some were afraid they could not leave and make the money they were making. Others were angry about the cut in the compensation plan.
